The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, has refuted claims that he invited anti-graft agencies to probe the irregularities in contracts awarded by his predecessor at the FCT. In a statement released by the FCT's Director of Press, it was clarified that Wike expressed concerns about irregularities observed in the procurement and execution of certain projects but did not authorize any action to invite the EFCC or ICPC to investigate the former FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello.

Wike, who recently took office as the FCT Minister after serving as the Governor of Rivers state, inherited a significant debt burden and various contractual irregularities. The concerns and frustrations he expressed during routine inspections of FCT projects were not directed towards initiating an investigation into his predecessor.

The statement further emphasized that Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, the immediate past FCT Minister, has not been invited by any anti-graft agency in relation to the irregularities in contract awards or any other matters. The FCT Minister remains committed to ensuring the efficient and transparent administration of the Federal Capital Territory.

It is essential to note that Wike's focus is on fulfilling his responsibilities and building a better FCT. Any actions or decisions made by the FCT Administration regarding investigations or potential legal actions will be communicated through official channels and in accordance with due process.

Barrister Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability in the discharge of his duties. His commitment to building the FCT of our collective dreams remains unwavering.
