Niger Delta Security Ambassadors and Volunteers Call for Renewal of Oil Surveillance Contract
Niger Delta Security Ambassadors and Volunteers (NDSAV) have urged the Federal Government and NNPCL to renew the surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. NDSAV, a grassroots network of professionals and activists, highlighted the positive impact of Tantita's approach on combating oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region, leading to increased crude oil production.

The Niger Delta Security Ambassadors and Volunteers (NDSAV) has called upon the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to renew the surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. This request comes as NDSAV, a grassroots network of professionals and activists from oil-producing and pipeline hosting communities in the Niger Delta region, emphasized the significant increase in crude oil production achieved through Tantita's professionalism and approach to combating oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

In their communiqué issued and signed by NDSAV's Coordinator, Comrade Kwakpovwe Feludu, Secretary Mr. Andrew Efole, and PRO Mr. Stanley Umukoro, they expressed their support for Tantita Security Services, which was engaged by the Presidency in the third quarter of 2022. They attributed the subsequent boost in the country's daily crude oil production to the partnership between Tantita and other security agencies.

Over the years, Nigeria's oil production output has faced a continuous decline, leading to various adverse impacts on the economy, job losses, and environmental degradation. However, since the involvement of Tantita Security Services and their collaboration with other agencies, the nation's crude oil production has experienced a positive turnaround.

The uniqueness and transparency of Tantita's community-based approach have garnered praise and acknowledgment from both the Federal Government and NNPC. The approach involves actively engaging men, women, and youths from the lower rungs of the communities in the protection of oil installations. This inclusive approach ensures a transparent and organized manner of operation, setting Tantita apart from previous initiatives.

The call for contract renewal arises from the recognition of Tantita's outstanding results and their commitment to the Niger Delta communities. NDSAV acknowledges the positive impact Tantita has had on reducing oil theft and pipeline vandalism, contributing to the increased crude oil production.

In addition to their support for Tantita Security Services, NDSAV commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) and Ekperipe Ekpo as Minister of State for Gas. These appointments reflect an important step towards prioritizing the energy sector and addressing the challenges faced.

As NDSAV continues to champion the cause of oil-producing communities, they believe that renewing the surveillance contract with Tantita Security Services will solidify the gains achieved and further bolster the nation's crude oil production output. The request emphasizes the need for the Federal Government and NNPC to consider the impact and effectiveness of the existing collaboration.

The call for contract renewal from NDSAV highlights the importance of sustaining effective strategies that have yielded positive results in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism. The ongoing partnership between Tantita Security Services and the relevant security agencies is seen as a crucial factor in maximizing the country's crude oil production and ensuring a stable economic future.
