Ex-Agitators Forum Condemns Threats to Disrupt NDDC Management Committee
Former Niger Delta agitators, under the umbrella of the Ex-Agitators Forum, have decried the threats from impostors to disrupt the activities of the Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). In a statement signed by prominent ex-agitators, the group expressed satisfaction with the performance of the current NDDC management and urged Niger Delta stakeholders to reject those seeking to cause discord in the region.

Lagos - The Ex-Agitators Forum, made up of former Niger Delta agitators, has strongly condemned the actions of impostors who are threatening to disrupt the activities of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Management Committee. In a statement released by top ex-agitator leaders including HRH Henry Binidodogha, Olotu Wanemi, and Tonye Bobo, the group described the impostors as mischievous and warned against their disruptive intentions.

The Ex-Agitators Forum, which identifies itself as the legitimate representative body of all ex-agitators, expressed its dismay at the audacity of these impostors and the threats they have issued. According to the statement, the group finds it absurd that individuals who are not recognized as genuine leaders would try to sow disaffection among the people of the Niger Delta region.

In addition, the Ex-Agitators Forum openly condemned calls for the removal of the current Management Committee of the NDDC. They expressed their satisfaction with the performance of the Dr. Samuel Ogbuku-led management team and pledged their support. The group took a firm stance against those holding contrary views and warned them and their sponsors against their mischievous activities, cautioning that such actions would only set the Niger Delta region backward.

"As major stakeholders in the region, we are worried by the frequent changes of leadership in the foremost interventionist agency in Nigeria's oil-rich region. This disruptive change of guards impedes the development of the region," the statement read.

The Ex-Agitators Forum acknowledged the nefarious activities of some powerful individuals who had previously benefited from the years of corruption in the NDDC and were seeking to undermine the positive changes currently taking place. They urged Niger Delta stakeholders to see through the ploy and disregard the sponsored attempts to create discord in the region.

The statement pointed out that the self-serving agents of disharmony were hoping to benefit from the chaos that would follow any disruption. These agents, aware of the forthcoming reconstitution of the NDDC Board by President Bola Tinubu, were attempting to heat up the system and create confusion.

The Ex-Agitators Forum also reminded Niger Deltans that the threat of shutting down the NDDC operations was no longer an acceptable or advantageous approach. They emphasized their commitment to peaceful engagement with the Ogbuku-led management team, which, in their view, was spearheading the rapid economic development of the region and establishing a sustainable governance structure for the Commission.

"We note that as a former youth leader himself, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has been through the mill and is well prepared for the leadership position he is occupying today. The leadership of the authentic ex-agitators is happy that Mr. President retained Dr. Ogbuku to continue to pilot affairs of the commission until a new board is constituted," the statement affirmed.

The Ex-Agitators Forum concluded its statement by appealing to Niger Delta stakeholders to refrain from disrupting the progress being made in the region. They emphasized the importance of a united front and encouraged all genuine stakeholders to support the NDDC rather than causing further instability.
