Enugu State Governor Vows to Restore Institute of Management and Technology to its Past Glory
Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has expressed his determination to revitalize the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu. In a bid to restore the institution to its former glory, the government has received the report of the Committee of Inquiry into the Accounts, Management Practices, and Staff Conduct in IMT. This report will serve as a foundation for planned reforms not only in IMT but across all levels of education in Enugu State.

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, is committed to rejuvenating the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu. A recent report presented by the Committee of Inquiry into the Accounts, Management Practices, and Staff Conduct in IMT will act as a guiding light for the intended reforms in the institution and throughout the state's educational sector.

Representing the Governor at the Government House in Enugu, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, reaffirmed the significance of the committee's report in the process of restoring IMT's former glory. The Governor's vision spans from elementary to tertiary education, with a primary focus on the quality of faculty, selection processes, and overall governance.

Prof. Onyia emphasized the importance of faculty quality, stating its direct impact on the competency and competitiveness of graduating students, both locally and globally. Established with a vision akin to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, IMT's decline over the years has become a genuine concern for the Governor, citizens of Enugu State, and parents who aspire for their children to attend a reputable educational institution like IMT.

Expressing his satisfaction with the committee's report, Prof. Onyia commended the inclusion of evidence to substantiate the committee's findings. This evidence ensures the accuracy and transparency of the report's content and allows for verification of the recommendations before implementation.

As Enugu State embarks on the journey of reforming IMT's governance process and addressing key recommendations, the Governor is steadfast in his determination to utilize the committee's report as a blueprint for other higher institutions in the state. Through this endeavor, Enugu State looks forward to witnessing IMT's resurrection as a symbol of academic excellence.

During the event, Prof. Edd Nwobodo, the Chairman of the Committee, expressed gratitude to the administration of Dr. Peter Mbah for the opportunity to carry out the important task. He further clarified that their work primarily focused on the essential elements required for IMT's reform.

The Committee's mandate encompassed an evaluation of the legal and policy framework underlying the Business Committee's establishment, as well as an in-depth analysis of student fees, payment methods, designated accounts for transactions, and fee-related processes. They were also tasked with assessing adherence to relevant laws and regulations in staff member selection and appointment, revenue generation, and financial resource management.

Additionally, the committee was instructed to investigate any undue financial demands imposed on students and explore other pertinent issues that may arise during the course of their investigation. The comprehensive examination conducted by the committee culminated in well-founded conclusions and recommendations to address the identified issues.
