The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued its weather outlook, projecting thunderstorms and cloudiness across the country from today (Tuesday) till Thursday. This forecast highlights the need for the public to be conscious of safety precautions due to the possibility of flash floods triggered by the expected moderate to heavy rainfall.
NiMet's Weather Outlook for Tuesday predicts intervals of sunshine over the northern region, alongside thunderstorms in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kaduna states during the morning hours. As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected in Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, and Kaduna states. Additionally, thunderstorms are envisaged in Nasarawa, the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Benue states during the morning hours, followed by Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Niger, and Nasarawa states later in the day.
In the southern and coastal regions, a cloudy atmosphere is anticipated with chances of thunderstorms in the morning hours over Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Cross River states. As the day progresses, thunderstorms are predicted in Imo, Abia, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Ondo, Oyo, Anambra, Enugu, Edo, Delta, Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom states.
The weather forecast for Wednesday includes cloudy skies with spells of sunshine over the northern region. Thunderstorms are expected in parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, and Zamfara states during different times of the day. The North Central region is expected to experience a cloudy atmosphere with thunderstorms in parts of Niger, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory. Meanwhile, the inland cities of the South and the coastal states may witness thunderstorms during the morning hours, followed by rain showers in Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states later in the day.
On Thursday, a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is forecasted for the northern region, along with thunderstorms in parts of Zamfara, Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Katsina states. The North Central region may experience thunderstorms in parts of Kogi, Benue, Niger, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory. Additionally, thunderstorms are expected in Enugu, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa states after a cloudy morning in the inland cities of the South and the coastal states.
