The President of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS), Professor Ola Ayankeye, has expressed concern over the behavior of some gospel ministers who lead reckless lives. Speaking ahead of the 2023 Ministers' Conference of the NBTS Ogbomoso, Professor Ayankeye emphasized the importance of gospel ministers leading lives that inspire people to be God-fearing.
Professor Ayankeye stated that gospel ministers have a responsibility to lead others towards God and not away from Him. He stressed that all members of society have a role to play in the transformation of society, but it can be achieved more effectively and quickly if driven by ministers of the gospel who have been empowered by God's message.
The theme of the upcoming conference, "Vessel for Honour," is particularly relevant in light of the current situation in Nigeria, where some gospel ministers are living recklessly and not setting a positive example for others.
While gospel ministers are responsible for leading people to be God-fearing, Professor Ayankeye emphasized that it is the duty of all individuals to actively participate in the transformation of society. He highlighted the significance of the gospel, which is God's power for salvation, being handled by vessels that are well molded and living in accordance with the teachings of Christ.
With new leadership at the federal level, Professor Ayankeye called upon political office holders and citizens alike to commit to being law-abiding and working towards a better nation. He urged everyone to live in gratitude to God for peaceful elections in Nigeria and encouraged regular prayers for the leaders. He emphasized that it is crucial for all Nigerians to work hard to make their country great again in all aspects.
The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary recently saw a change in leadership with the assumption of office by Professor Ola Ayankeye as the President. He succeeded Professor Emiola Nihinlola, whose tenure had expired.
