Senator Shehu Sani Urges President Bola Tinubu to Avoid Appointing Religious and Ethnic Bigots in Government
Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, advises President Bola Tinubu to appoint competent individuals and avoid religious and ethnic bigots in his government. Sani highlights the need for national unity, national security, economic reforms, education funding, agricultural and industrial development, and the empowerment of young people in Nigeria.

Lagos - In a keynote speech delivered at the Double Diamond Global Empowerment Initiative (DDGEI) anniversary lecture and award presentations held in Lagos, Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, emphasized the importance of President Bola Tinubu surrounding himself with competent individuals rather than religious and ethnic bigots.

Senator Sani urged the new administration to prioritize the unity of Nigeria and address various challenges facing the nation. He highlighted five key areas that the new government must focus on to bring about the much-needed transformation and renewed hope for Nigerians.

Firstly, Sani emphasized the pressing need to reinforce and strengthen the national unity of Nigeria, as the spirit of the people is currently low. He stressed the importance of addressing the security concerns across different regions of the country, including terrorism, violence, and agitations.

The second area of focus highlighted by Sani is the economy. He criticized the previous government for lacking vision and direction in addressing Nigeria's economic problems. Sani called for bold and result-oriented decisions to be made within a specific timeframe to revive and stabilize the country's economy.

Education was another significant aspect raised by Senator Sani. He highlighted the consistent disruptions in tertiary education due to strikes and the gradual deterioration of public primary and secondary schools. Sani emphasized the government's responsibility to fund and make education accessible and affordable for all Nigerians, as education plays a vital role in addressing the current security challenges in the country.

Agriculture and industry were also identified as crucial sectors required for Nigeria's development. Sani stressed the need to prioritize commerce, science, technology, and industrial growth to elevate Nigeria's status and enable it to compete on a global scale.

Senator Sani concluded his speech by emphasizing the significance of justice, fairness, and equity in building a united Nigeria, where every citizen irrespective of ethnicity or religion is treated equally and given equal opportunities to thrive. He also highlighted the urgent need to empower the country's young people.

The event, organized by the Double Diamond Global Empowerment Initiative, aimed to address salient issues affecting the nation and present recommendations to the new government. It brought together notable Nigerians, businessmen and women, and top government officials.

The award recipients honored at the event were recognized for their excellence and positive impact on society. They included Sir Folu Agoi, DCP Saadat Ismaila, ASP Johnbull Osarenkhoe, Rev Dr Kingsley Okoroji, Rev. Matthew Ajayi, Mr. Benjamin A. Nwaogu, Adewale Felix Ilesanmi, Mr. Sixtus Eze, and Dr. Bernard Andrew.
