The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the recruitment of Ad-Hoc Staff for the forthcoming off-cycle Governorship Elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States. This recruitment drive aims to ensure the smooth and efficient conduct of the electoral process in these states.

The registration process for interested Nigerians will begin on Thursday, August 31, 2023, and will be open for applications for a period of five weeks until Monday, October 2, 2023. INEC has provided two registration portals for applicants to choose from; the first one is accessible at https://pres.inecnigeria.org, and the second one is for Android users via the link https://inecpres-app.com/pres-app.apk.

The announcement of the recruitment exercise was made by Festus Okoye, the national commissioner and chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC. This decision was reached following a meeting held by the commission in Abuja on Tuesday.

As the date for the governorship elections draws near, INEC is prioritizing the transparency, credibility, and fairness of the electoral process. An anonymous top official in the commission affirmed this commitment to ensuring the gubernatorial polls in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states are conducted in a free and fair manner.

To enhance the efficiency of the electoral process, INEC plans to deploy 11,355 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines for voter accreditation in these states. These machines will streamline the registration and accreditation process and help maintain transparency during the elections.

Interested individuals who wish to contribute to the democratic process and support the conduct of free and fair elections can apply for various positions as Ad-Hoc Staff. The positions available include polling unit assistant, presiding officer, supervisory presiding officer, collation officer, and returning officer.

Working as an Ad-Hoc Staff for INEC is an opportunity to actively participate in the democratic process and contribute to shaping the future of these states. Successful applicants will undergo training to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill their designated roles on election day.

INEC's decision to recruit Ad-Hoc Staff is in line with its commitment to conducting credible elections. These staff members play vital roles in ensuring the smooth running of the electoral process, from voter accreditation to the collation and declaration of results. Their dedication and professionalism contribute to upholding the integrity of the electoral system.

Interested Nigerians who meet the requirements are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for Ad-Hoc Staff positions in the upcoming governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States. By doing so, they can actively contribute to the democratic process and help foster positive change in their respective states.
