Former Governor Peter Obi Urged to Support President Bola Tinubu by Minister of Works David Umahi
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has called on Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, to throw his support behind President Bola Tinubu. Umahi emphasized that Tinubu was an ordained leader and urged Obi and other Igbo stakeholders to back him despite regional differences. Peter Obi, through social media, encouraged his supporters to remain hopeful and motivated, asserting that the quest for a better Nigeria has only just begun.

The call for unity and cooperation in Nigerian politics has taken center stage once again with former Ebonyi state governor, David Umahi, urging Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, to throw his support behind President Bola Tinubu.

The appeal came during Umahi's visit to Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state. The minister of works reminded Obi of the importance of unity and urged him to prioritize the progress of the nation over personal interests.

In the aftermath of the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi challenged the victory of Bola Tinubu at the presidential election petition court. Although his petition was dismissed, he has vowed to appeal the judgment at the Supreme Court.

Umahi highlighted that despite the southeast region not voting for President Tinubu, he recognized the importance of inclusivity and awarded the region a prominent ministerial position. According to Daily Trust, Umahi noted that President Tinubu's leadership was an act of divine ordination.

Quoting Umahi, he said, "I urge the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and other Igbo stakeholders, to support Tinubu. The president gave us the foremost ministerial position even when we didn't vote well for him."

While urging Obi to support Tinubu, Umahi emphasized the need for unity and identification of common goals beyond regional differences. He reiterated that Tinubu's leadership was destined by God, a belief he held throughout the election period.

In response to the court judgment dismissing his petition, Peter Obi took to his social media account to encourage his supporters to remain hopeful and motivated. He emphasized that despair was not an option and that the quest for a better Nigeria had just begun.

"Today, I want to personally reach out and encourage you all to keep hope alive. Considering the challenges that lie ahead of us as a movement, despair is not an option. Nothing good in life comes easy," Obi stated.

The call for support from Umahi and the unwavering hope expressed by Obi reveals the complexities of Nigeria's political landscape and the need for unity and collaboration. As the nation prepares for the future, the role of unity in achieving sustainable progress and development remains paramount.
