Nnamdi Kanu Returns to DSS Custody After Brief Medical Check-up
Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, has been returned to the Department of State Services (DSS) custody after a brief release to see a doctor for a medical check-up. Kanu, who suffers from an ear infection and requires surgery, was granted access to his physician as instructed by the federal high court in Abuja. The medical examination was described as seamless and productive by Kanu's legal counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been returned to the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) after a brief release to see a doctor for a medical check-up. Kanu, who suffers from an ear infection and requires surgery to bring him back to a normal state, was granted access to his physician as instructed by the federal high court in Abuja.

The news of Kanu's release for medical attention was confirmed by his legal counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor. According to Ejiofor, Kanu's access to his doctor was in compliance with the court ruling. He stated, "He has been attended to, and after preliminary examinations, he was taken back."

The medical check-up was described as seamless and productive by Ejiofor, who also tweeted about the examination. Ejiofor's tweet read, "Sequel to our avowed assurance to always keep Ezigbo UmuChineke abreast of pertinent happenings, especially with Onyendu's health status, welfare, and update on his legal matters, we are pleased to inform you that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu met with his choice personal physician yesterday in a hospital in Abuja, outside the facility of the State Security Service."

Ejiofor further explained, "As part of the protocol, I witnessed the consultation. The medical examination was seamless and productive, and he will be progressing to the next stage soon."

The brief release of Nnamdi Kanu for medical attention comes after concerns were raised about the state of his health. The IPOB leader has been in custody since June 2021 following his re-arrest and repatriation to Nigeria.

The federal high court in Abuja had instructed the DSS to allow Kanu access to his physician for a thorough medical examination. The court ruling recognized Kanu's need for surgery and emphasized the importance of ensuring his health and well-being during his detention.

Kanu's medical condition has drawn attention from supporters and human rights activists, who argue that his health should be prioritized. The decision to grant him access to his doctor has been seen as a step towards addressing these concerns.

Despite being returned to DSS custody, it is expected that Kanu will progress to the next stage of his medical treatment soon. The details of the next stage and the timing of any potential surgery have not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, the legal battle surrounding Kanu's case continues. His legal team has been actively pursuing his release and has expressed concerns about his detention and treatment. The court proceedings and legal arguments will play a crucial role in determining the future of Kanu's case.
