Nigeria Youth Organization Calls for Establishment of National Youth Development Commission
The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) has urged the Federal Government to establish the National Youth Development Commission (NYDC) and build National Youth Development Centers across the country. This call was made by the National President of NYO, Comrade Okorie.C. Okorie, during a press conference held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The establishment of the Commission and Centers aims to provide a sense of belonging and opportunities for youth development in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to take immediate action in establishing the National Youth Development Commission (NYDC) and constructing National Youth Development Centers in various locations across the country. This plea was made by the National President of NYO, Comrade Okorie.C. Okorie, during a press conference held in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State to commemorate this year's International Youth Day.

The International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12th, serves as a global event to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions and sacrifices made by the youth towards societal development.

Comrade Okorie emphasized that the creation of the National Youth Development Commission is crucial in ensuring that Nigerian youths have a sense of belonging within the nation. By establishing the Commission, the government can address the unique needs and challenges faced by young people across various sectors.

Furthermore, Comrade Okorie called upon the governors of all states in the federation to follow suit and establish State Youth Development Commissions along with building State Centers for Youth Development. This decentralized approach would ensure that youth development is prioritized at both national and regional levels.

The proposed National Youth Development Centers would serve as hubs for youth empowerment, education, skills acquisition, and innovation. These centers would provide young Nigerians with a platform to develop their potential, acquire relevant skills, and contribute to the overall development of the nation.

While addressing the press conference, Comrade Okorie also urged the judiciary to uphold transparency and fairness in the handling of petitions related to the upcoming 2023 general elections. Upholding justice in election matters is crucial to fostering a peaceful and inclusive democratic process.

The establishment of the National Youth Development Commission and the construction of National Youth Development Centers align with the theme of this year's International Youth Day, "Green Skills For Youth: Towards A Sustainable World." This theme emphasizes the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

For Nigerian youths to actively participate in the building of a sustainable world, it is imperative that they are provided with the appropriate platforms and resources. The establishment of the National Youth Development Commission and the subsequent construction of youth centers across the country would be a significant step towards achieving this goal.

The Nigeria Youth Organization's call to action showcases their dedication to youth advocacy and the promotion of youth development in the country. With the support of the federal government and relevant stakeholders, it is hoped that the establishment of the National Youth Development Commission and the construction of National Youth Development Centers will soon become a reality, providing Nigerian youths with the opportunities they deserve for personal growth and nation-building.
