Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo Announces Tax Exemptions and Other Measures to Ease Cost of Living

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has announced a set of measures aimed at providing relief to the residents of the state who have been grappling with the high cost of living. The initiatives include tax exemptions and reductions for different segments of the society, free healthcare services for pregnant women, a salary increase for public servants, distribution of essential commodities, and infrastructure development.

One of the key highlights of the announcement is the tax exemptions and reductions for various sectors. Hawkwers, wheelbarrow and truck pushers, vulcanizers, artisans, okada drivers, petty traders, and transporters will all benefit from these tax breaks. In addition to the tax exemptions, Governor Soludo has also introduced free antenatal services and delivery services for pregnant mothers in state primary health centers and general hospitals. The establishment of a new industrial complex to process these products further boosts employment prospects.

Governor Soludo's administration is also committed to empowering the youth through the One Youth Two Skills program, which will provide grants and soft loans at a maximum interest rate of 9% per annum. This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship and economic growth among the youth.

The Ward-based Cooperative Initiative for micro-enterprises will receive funding and support to enhance economic activities at the grassroots level. Furthermore, a comprehensive program to build and modernize primary health centers in all 326 wards will improve access to healthcare services for the entire population.

Infrastructure development is also a key focus for Governor Soludo. Over 340 kilometers of roads will be constructed across all the twenty-one local governments, promoting connectivity and easing transportation. The government is also keen on improving the Ease of Doing Business in Anambra State to attract private sector investments, ultimately generating employment opportunities and boosting economic growth.
