EDSIEC Presents Certificates of Return to PDP Chairmen-Elect in Edo State
The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has presented Certificates of Return to eighteen People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmen-elect in Edo State. The recently concluded local government elections in the state saw the PDP emerge victorious in several LGAs, reflecting the will of the people. Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections and praised the diligence of EDSIEC. He emphasized the fair and transparent nature of the elections, despite expected challenges and opposition.

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) presented Certificates of Return to eighteen People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmen-elect in Benin City, Edo State, following the recently concluded local government elections. The election results, released on Sunday, showcased the overwhelming dominance of the PDP in several Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the state.

In Akoko Edo LGA, Tajudeen Alade Suleiman of the PDP emerged victorious with 10,721 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 5,369 votes, and the Labour Party (LP) received 2,083 votes. Similarly, Adodo Kenneth of the PDP won in Uhunmwode LGA with 15,615 votes, followed by the APC with 2,317 votes and the LP with 1,436 votes.

The PDP candidates also triumphed in Owan West LGA, with Ahonsi Dickson Idojemu securing 13,171 votes, surpassing the APC with 3,825 votes and the LP with 2,365 votes. In Etsako East LGA, Ato Benedicta emerged as the PDP winner with 16,428 votes, while the APC received 4,076 votes and the LP obtained 1,711 votes.

Various other LGAs experienced similar outcomes, including Etsako Central, Etsako West, Ikpoba-Okha, and Egor. These results highlight the significant support for the PDP and demonstrate the party's strong local presence.

Evidently pleased with the electoral process, Governor Godwin Obaseki praised the conduct of the elections and expressed gratitude to the people for their active participation. Speaking at the Diocese of Benin (Anglican Communion), St. Peter's Anglican Church during a memorial service for his late father, the Governor commended the diligence shown by EDSIEC and the presence of numerous polling units throughout the state.

Obaseki acknowledged the fair nature of the elections, which allowed people to exercise their democratic rights without impeding economic and social activities. He also noted the strong campaign efforts of the PDP across all local government areas, indicating the party's dominant presence. However, he urged contestants of opposing parties to utilize established legal avenues to address any concerns or complaints they may have.

With the release of the election results and the presentation of Certificates of Return to the PDP Chairmen-elect, the future of local governance in Edo State seems set to witness the party's influence and policies at the grassroots level. The PDP's widespread success in the elections reflects the will of the people and reinforces the party's local popularity.
