Nigerian Official Selection Committee Calls for Filmmakers to Submit Films for Oscar Consideration
The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) is extending a call to Nigerian filmmakers to submit their feature films for consideration in the International Feature Film (IFF) category of the 96th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars). The portal is open for submissions from August 28, 2023, to September 15, 2023. The NOSC will choose one film as the country's official submission for the IFF Award.

The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has announced a call for Nigerian filmmakers to submit their feature films for consideration in the International Feature Film (IFF) category of the 96th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars).

The NOSC, which is officially recognized by the AMPAS, will select one film as Nigeria's official submission for the IFF Award. This prestigious award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that is primarily in a language other than English.

The submission portal will be open from August 28, 2023, to September 15, 2023, giving Nigerian filmmakers a chance to showcase their work on the global stage.

Films submitted for consideration must meet specific criteria set by the Academy. These criteria include accurate and legible English language subtitles, shooting formats, and theatrical releases. Detailed information about the Academy's criteria can be found on the NOSC's website.

Stephanie Linus, the newly appointed chairperson of the NOSC, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to honor Nigerian storytellers and talents on the global stage. Linus stated, "I am honored to take on the esteemed role of NOSC Chairperson for the Oscar Awards. I look forward to working closely with my committee members on our shared vision of promoting African filmmakers on a global platform."

Linus also emphasized the importance of the decision-making process and the impact it can have on the next generation of filmmakers. She hopes the selections made will inspire future creators and storytellers.

The 96th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 10, 2024, and will be broadcasted live in more than 200 territories worldwide from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, California.
