Al Ahly Advances to the Round of 32 in the African Champions League
Al Ahly secured their place in the Round of 32 of the African Champions League after a goalless draw against Nigeria's Enyimba in the second leg of the preliminary round. The team from Libya had a slight advantage after winning the first leg.

Abuja, August 2023 - Al Ahly has sealed their qualification for the Round of 32 of the CAF Champions League following a goalless draw against Enyimba of Nigeria in the second leg of the preliminary round.

The Libyan representatives, Al Ahly, entered the match at Aba Stadium, officiated by Congolese referee, Messie Jessie Nkunku, with an advantage after their victory in the first leg.

As anticipated, Enyimba's coach, George FineDay, came all-out to overturn the earlier loss and dominate their home turf. However, their attacks lacked coordination and focus, allowing Al Ahly to hold their ground, demonstrating a solid and organized defensive performance throughout the 90 minutes.

While Enyimba pressed forward, aiming to breach Al Ahly's goalkeeper Murad Al Wahishi's net, their attempts lacked precision and failed to find the back of the net. Meanwhile, Al Ahly remained focused and managed to fend off their opponent's attacks, especially with their three solid defensive lines effectively nullifying Enyimba's threats.

Al Ahly's relentless concentration eventually paid off, as they secured a place in the Round of 32. They will now face the winner of the match between Benin's Coton Sport and Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas in the next stage of the competition.

The first leg ended with Al Ahly triumphing 4-3 over Enyimba, with goals scored by Hussein Taktak, Fadel Salama, Hamadi Gadallah, and an unfortunate own goal by Emuobonuvie Opotu.

The achievement of Al Ahly in reaching the next round reflects the team's determination and unity under the guidance of their Tunisian coach, Saad Al-Dridi. Their steady and composed performance against Enyimba demonstrated their readiness for the challenges ahead and marked their ambition to carve their path towards the African Champions League title.
