New FCT Minister Assures Contractors of Direct Supervision
The newly inaugurated minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured contractors that he will personally supervise all major projects in the FCT. President Bola Tinubu has expressed his desire to ride on the completed Abuja light rail, making it a priority project. Wike has also given a deadline for the completion of rehabilitation work on the rail, highlighting his commitment to taking immediate action.

Recently appointed as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike wasted no time in making his intentions clear. During a meeting with contractors responsible for major projects in the FCT, Wike assured them that he will personally oversee their work, ensuring that projects are completed in a timely manner.

The main focus of attention during the meeting was the Abuja light rail project. Wike revealed that President Bola Tinubu is eager to ride on the completed metro light train and has made it a priority for the FCT. With this in mind, Wike emphasized the importance of achieving this goal as soon as possible.

"After our inauguration, we outlined our plans to reposition the capital city. President Tinubu has given us a clear directive that he wants to ride the metro light train. So, it is a key project that we must accomplish," stated Wike during the meeting.

It was also noted that President Tinubu expressed his dissatisfaction with the number of abandoned projects, specifically focusing on critical infrastructure such as roads. This further highlights the importance of completing ongoing projects and addressing the issue of abandoned ones.

Wike's commitment to taking immediate action was further demonstrated by his announcement that rehabilitation work on the Abuja light rail must be completed within eight months. During an inspection of the Abuja Metro Station in Idu and the Airport Station, Wike emphasized the deadline for this particular project.

"We have set a strict timeline for the rehabilitation work on the Abuja light rail. We expect it to be fully operational within the next eight months," said Wike.

This announcement marks Wike's first official assignment as the FCT minister outside of his office since his inauguration. It showcases his determination to address key issues promptly and effectively.

With President Tinubu's clear goals for each sector in the country and his expectation that his newly appointed ministers will deliver on those goals, the responsibility on Wike's shoulders is enormous. However, his commitment to addressing critical infrastructure and completing ongoing projects under his direct supervision signals a willingness to rise to the challenge.

As Wike takes charge of the FCT, he aims to turn Abuja into a buzzing construction site, making tangible strides towards fulfilling President Tinubu's vision for the capital city.
