The draw for the qualifiers was held on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt, and Nigeria were drawn in Group A alongside Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and Mauritius.

The Super Eagles will play their first match in the qualifiers on November 8, 2023, against Cameroon.

The other matches in the group will be played on November 11, 2023, and March 24, 2024.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final round of qualifying, which will be played in 2025.

The two teams that qualify from the final round of qualifying will represent Africa at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Super Eagles are the most successful team in African football, having won the Africa Cup of Nations three times.

They have also qualified for the FIFA World Cup seven times, most recently in 2018.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and add to their trophy cabinet.
