Edo State Governor Criticizes Federal Government's Road Management Capacity
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, expresses his lack of trust in the Federal Government's capacity to effectively manage itself and fix federal roads in the state. He plans to collaborate with local council chairmen to construct alternative roads, aiming to alleviate the suffering of residents and users of federal roads.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has voiced his concerns regarding the Federal Government's ability to manage itself and effectively address the state's road infrastructure. During a press conference in Benin City, Governor Obaseki emphasized the lack of trust in the Federal Government's capacity to fix federal roads in the state and asserted that his government would work with local council chairmen to construct alternative roads.

Obaseki stated, "The Federal Government as you know today lacks the capacity to manage itself not to talk of building these roads. It will take a while for them to be able to build and fix those roads. Fortunately, we have had other connections, so our priority is to design and work with the State and local governments to build alternative State roads. Infrastructure is important and we should be able to move our people, their goods and services across the State to bring development."

The governor expressed his commitment to advancing development and improving the livelihoods and welfare of the people of Edo State. He recognized the suffering faced by residents and users of federal roads and intends to address the issue by constructing alternative roads in collaboration with the newly inaugurated local council chairmen.

Highlighting the economic realities in Nigeria, Governor Obaseki acknowledged the harsh conditions faced by citizens, leading to increased poverty and difficulties in accessing basic necessities. He underscored the importance of not neglecting the people and outlined the need to strengthen and support them.

Governor Obaseki said, "Today, we are facing very harsh economic times and it's tough. Every day, the naira gets devalued and more people go into poverty as they can't feed themselves. As a people and a society, we can't turn our eyes and abandon our people. We must look for a way to strengthen them and ensure that our citizens don't go to bed hungry."

The governor's critical view of the Federal Government's road management capacity stems from the desire to alleviate the suffering experienced by the residents and users of federal roads in Edo State. By constructing alternative roads, Governor Obaseki aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate the movement of goods and services across the state, ultimately driving development and improving the lives of the people.
