The security of lives and property is of utmost importance in every society. In line with this, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has reiterated his commitment to collaborating with the Nigerian Navy to bolster security efforts in the state. This was made known during a familiarisation visit by a delegation of the Nigerian Navy, led by Rear Admiral Umar S.A. Chugali, the Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command.

Expressing his appreciation for the Navy's commitment to securing Anambra State, Governor Soludo commended their efforts in combating oil bunkering and other criminal activities within the region. He acknowledged their invaluable contributions towards maintaining peace and order, particularly in maritime security, which is crucial for economic development.

Highlighting the significance of reducing oil theft, Governor Soludo emphasized its potential impact on revenue generation for the country. He stated, "If the theft can be reduced by 70-80%, that is equivalent to a jump in revenue for the country." This demonstrates his understanding of the interconnectivity between security and economic growth.

Rear Admiral Umar S.A. Chugali reiterated the Nigerian Navy's unwavering commitment to helping secure Anambra State. As the Central Naval Command covers various states, including Anambra, visits such as this allow for integration and coordination among different units to enhance operational effectiveness.

One of the strategic initiatives of the Nigerian Navy is the establishment of an outpost on the water bank of Onitsha. This choice is driven by the recognition of water transportation as a credible mode of movement, necessitating a continuous naval presence to prevent criminal activities and ensure utmost security. The Governor acknowledged the strategic positioning of the outpost and its significance in securing waterways.

The visit also witnessed the presence of top government officials, including the Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mr. Chikodili Anara, and the Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike. Their attendance underscores the collaborative approach between the state government and the Nigerian Navy in tackling security challenges.

Cognitive of the impact of security on societal welfare and development, the Anambra State Government, under the leadership of Governor Soludo, remains committed to working hand in hand with the Nigerian Navy. Together, they strive to ensure the safety and well-being of the people, create an enabling environment for socioeconomic growth, and guarantee a secure and prosperous future for Anambra State.
