The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has taken the opportunity to encourage students as they gear up for their first-semester examinations for the 2022/2023 academic session. In a statement posted on the institution's Twitter handle, she urged the students not to see exams as a death sentence or an unavoidable evil, but rather as stepping stones to their academic advancement.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello emphasized that the university will ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations, providing the students with a conducive environment to showcase their knowledge and abilities. She expressed her motherly concern for the students, stating, "As a mother, I pray for your success and wish you the mental and physical strength to finish well and come out in flying colours."

This uplifting message from the Vice Chancellor serves to boost the morale and confidence of the students, reminding them that they have the capacity to excel in their exams. It encourages them to approach their assessments with a positive mindset and a determination to succeed.

The statement comes at a time when students often face stress and pressure as they prepare for their exams. Prof. Olatunji-Bello's words serve as a reminder for students to believe in themselves and their ability to perform well.

In addition to the message of encouragement, the Vice Chancellor also announced that the Lagos State University has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 20 new undergraduate programs. This development adds to the diverse range of academic offerings at the university, creating more opportunities for students to pursue their passions and interests.

Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor's statement coincides with the recognition of a law student, Aminat Yusuf, who graduated from LASU with a perfect CGPA of 5.0. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state personally acknowledged Aminat's achievement and had a conversation with her and her parents regarding their role in her personal development. To further commend Aminat's exceptional academic performance, the governor rewarded her with a sum of N10 million.

The recognition of Aminat Yusuf's remarkable feat serves as additional motivation for students at LASU. It highlights the potential for academic excellence and demonstrates the support and appreciation that students receive from the institution and its stakeholders.

As LASU students navigate through their first-semester exams, the message from the Vice Chancellor serves as a reminder of their capabilities and the opportunities that lie ahead. With the assurance of a conducive environment for exams and the support of their academic community, the students are encouraged to give their best, overcome any challenges, and achieve success in their academic endeavors.
