Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to Approach Supreme Court Over Election Dispute
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC). He plans to approach the Supreme Court to seek justice and set aside the election of President Bola Tinubu, who was declared the valid winner of the presidential election held on February 25. Atiku believes that his appeal is not just a personal struggle, but a fight for the Constitution, rule of law, and democracy in Nigeria.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), which affirmed the validity of President Bola Tinubu's election victory. Atiku has vowed to approach the Supreme Court in a bid to set aside the election result and seek justice.

Speaking through his team of lawyers led by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, the PDP candidate stated that he respected the court as an institution, but felt that justice was not served in his case.

"Judgement has just been delivered but we have not received justice. Luckily, the Constitution has given us the right to go on appeal," said Atiku.

He emphasized that his intention to appeal to the Supreme Court was not solely for personal reasons. Atiku believes that his action is in defense of the Constitution, the rule of law, and democracy in Nigeria.

"This is a struggle that is not just for our client, but for the Constitution of this country, for the rule of law and democracy," his lawyer reiterated.

Atiku's legal team is raising concerns about the use of technology in enhancing election management, transparency, and accountability. They had expected the judgement to support the advancement of these aspects of the electoral process, thus boosting Nigerians' confidence in democracy.

The PDP candidate's lawyers are confident that the Supreme Court will have the opportunity to review certain aspects of the case and address the principles of law involved.

"We have the instruction of our client to go to the Supreme Court. So, we have asked for the records. We have asked for the judgement. We are going to apply for the transmission of the records because we have a very limited time to push this," Atiku's lawyer stated.

The struggle is far from over for Atiku and his legal team. They acknowledge the importance of continuing their fight for justice, not only for their client but also for all Nigerians.

"So, the struggle continues and as it is said, it is not over until it is over," the lawyer concluded.
