Lagos, Nigeria - The Lagos First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has taken a great stride towards empowering young boys in Lagos State. Under her pet project, the Lagos Boy Child Initiative, Dr. Sanwo-Olu organized the first-ever talent hunt competition exclusively for boys. The competition, held in the Badagry Division of Lagos, aimed to identify, nurture and showcase the hidden talents of young boys within the age range of nine to sixteen.
The talent hunt competition centered around two categories: Creative and Visual Arts, and Science and Technology, specifically Robotics and Mechatronics. These categories were carefully selected to provide unique platforms for the boys to express themselves, leveraging their natural energy and curiosity.
To ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process, a panel of judges consisting of seasoned professionals was convened. The judges were tasked with assessing the participants without any biases, purely based on their talent, creativity, and skills demonstrated during the competition.
The talent hunt competition aligns perfectly with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration. By investing in the development of young boys' talents, the initiative supports the agenda's pillars, which include Education and Technology, Health and Environment, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, and Safety and Governance.
The winners of the talent hunt competition will be officially announced during the highly anticipated 2nd Edition of the Parenting Boy Child Initiative. The Parenting Seminar, scheduled for August 29th, will focus on the theme: "Parenting and Leadership: Bedrock in raising Responsible Boys."
The seminar aims to sensitise parents in Lagos on the importance of instilling values and positive influences in boys. By addressing the critical role of parenting and leadership in nurturing responsible boys, the event will create awareness about the impact parents have on shaping the future of their sons.
Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, as the visionary behind the Lagos Boy Child Initiative and the talent hunt competition, continues to demonstrate her commitment to empowering young boys in Lagos State. Through these initiatives, she aims to provide a platform for boys to explore their talents, foster creativity, and unleash their hidden potential.
As the Parenting Seminar approaches, anticipation builds as parents, educators, and community leaders eagerly await the outcomes of the talent hunt competition. The winners' unveiling will mark an important milestone in the journey of the boys towards realizing their dreams and aspirations, while inspiring other young boys across Lagos to showcase their talents fearlessly.
