Residents in Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe States to Experience Power Outages from August 28 to September 2
Residents in Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe states can expect power outages from August 28 to September 2, according to the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED). The outages are scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm each day during this period. The power cuts are necessary for the installation of new infrastructure. JED has urged customers to be patient and assured them of its commitment to improving service delivery.

Residents in Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe states are set to face temporary power outages as the Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has announced plans for scheduled power cuts in these areas.

In a statement released on Saturday, the company's spokesperson, Friday Elijah, explained that the outages are scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm daily, starting from August 28 and lasting until September 2. The purpose of these outages is to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out necessary installations conducted by its local engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors.

The specific reason for the power cuts is to facilitate the connection of the new APO line's gantry beam to the existing Lafia line-Jos 330kv double circuit. However, Elijah assured customers that the 330KV Jos complex would still receive power supply via the Kaduna-Jos 330KV line, indicating that load shedding would increase during this period.

JED has called on residents to exercise patience and bear with the temporary inconvenience caused by the power outages. The company remains committed to improving its services and ensuring that the franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Plateau, and Gombe benefit from regular and reliable electricity supply.

This development comes on the heels of JED's recent action in April, where it dismissed 20 employees allegedly involved in criminal activities. Abdu Mohammed, the managing director of JED, made it clear that the company would not tolerate any activities that tarnish its image.

In conclusion, the planned power outages in Plateau, Bauchi, and Gombe states between August 28 and September 2 are aimed at facilitating essential installations and upgrades. While temporary inconveniences may arise, JED remains committed to enhancing its services and providing improved electricity supply to its franchise states.
