Esteemed veterans who spoke at the lecture reminisced about Jakande's virtues and the lasting impact he made within the world of journalism.
Eze Anaba, President of NGE, expressed the crucial role Jakande played in shaping modern journalism in Nigeria:
"Baba Kekere devoted his entire professional and political career to advancing the values of liberty and social justice. He exemplified the values of honesty, integrity, courage, and fairness. In a heartfelt appeal, Seyi Jakande, one of Lateef Jakande's children, called upon the Lagos State Governor to reconsider renaming Lagos State University (LASU) after his father. He noted that Jakande's establishment of the university was deserving of this honor, especially considering similar institutions named after other second republic former Governors.
