President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Moves to Aso Rock
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has temporarily moved to Aso Rock's Glass House as his official residence undergoes renovations. This decision comes after public complaints regarding the heavy traffic caused by the security measures surrounding his movements. The completion of the renovation is expected by August.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria's newly inaugurated president, has made a temporary move to Aso Rock's Glass House, pending the completion of the renovation of his official residence. This decision comes after public complaints regarding the heavy traffic caused by the security measures implemented around his movements.

Since his inauguration, President Tinubu had been operating from a private residence in Asokoro. However, the tight security measures put in place led to significant traffic congestion, inconveniencing the public.

"He finally moved on Sunday night because of public complaints over the traffic congestion around his movements," revealed a presidency official. "He, too, was unhappy with the discomfort caused to the public, but the official residence is still not ready. Therefore, he decided to move to the Glass House."

The completion of the renovation work on President Tinubu's official residence is expected in August. This timeframe provides a temporary solution to address the concerns raised by the public.

This situation appears to mirror the previous transition when President Muhammadu Buhari moved into the residence three weeks after his own inauguration in 2015. The Government House also served as a transit accommodation for President Buhari during that period.

Meanwhile, ahead of his inauguration on May 29th, 2023, President-elect Tinubu is currently residing at Defence House in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, together with the vice president-elect, Kashim Shetttima.

It is expected that after the swearing-in ceremony, President Tinubu and the vice president-elect will move into the Presidential Villa.

This recent development marks a significant milestone as President Tinubu comes one step closer to realizing his lifelong ambition to become the President of Nigeria. On March 1st, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially presented him with his certificate of return, solidifying his status as Nigeria's president-elect.

As the completion of his official residence approaches, President Tinubu's move to the Glass House demonstrates his attentiveness to the concerns of the public. The temporary arrangement addresses the traffic congestion complaints while awaiting the completion of the renovation work.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's dedication to Nigeria's leadership role is set to be formally confirmed during the upcoming handing-over ceremony in May. Until then, he will continue to work diligently from his temporary quarters, ensuring a smooth transition into his role as President of Nigeria.
