FCT, Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, will later on Thursday, September 7, address a world press conference. This is coming after the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) threw out his case and upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu, The Punch reported.
A report by Business Day newspaper also noted the development.
Not satisfied by the tribunal's judgement on Wednesday, September 6, Atiku, a former vice-president, alongside the PDP's acting national chairman, Umar Damagun, said they will be addressing a world press conference.
Legit.ng understands that the conference, billed to be held at the national executive committee (NEC) Hall at the PDP's national headquarters in Abuja, will commence by 2:30 pm.
Voicing Their Perspectives
The upcoming world press conference presents Atiku Abubakar and the PDP with an opportunity to voice their perspectives and share their plans for the future. It is no secret that Atiku had contested the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, alleging irregularities and calling for a review.
The decision of the PEPT to uphold the victory of President Bola Tinubu could have serious political implications. However, by addressing a world press conference, Atiku and the PDP aim to make their position clear and keep their supporters informed about the next steps.
A Chance to Connect
For Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, the world press conference is a prime opportunity to connect with the Nigerian public and display their commitment to democratic processes. By engaging with the media, they can address concerns, clarify their stance, and present their vision for the future.
It is expected that Atiku will reiterate some of the legal points made during the election petitions tribunal, providing further insight into their legal strategy and potential future legal actions. Additionally, he may outline plans for political mobilization and the party's efforts to strengthen their base for future elections.
Looking Ahead
In light of the tribunal's verdict, the world press conference will also serve as a platform for Atiku and the PDP to outline their plans for the future. As the main opposition party, the PDP will likely discuss strategies to bolster their party structure and continue their role as a viable alternative in Nigerian politics.
In conclusion, the world press conference to be held by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party represents an important moment in Nigerian politics. It serves as an opportunity for the PDP and its presidential candidate to reassert their stance, address concerns, and lay out their vision for the future.
