Jobberman Nigeria Partners with EbonyLife Creative Academy for Short-Film Competition
Jobberman Nigeria has teamed up with EbonyLife Creative Academy to launch a groundbreaking short-film competition for content creators in Nigeria. The competition aims to capture key findings from Jobberman's report on how young people survive without jobs. Winners will receive N2 million in cinematography equipment and videography masterclasses. This initiative is part of the MasterCard Foundation's Young Africa Works strategy, which seeks to create economic opportunities for young Nigerians in the creative sector and digital economy.

Lagos, Nigeria - Jobberman Nigeria, a leading job search platform, has announced an exciting collaboration with EbonyLife Creative Academy (ELCA) to host a pioneering short-film competition for content creators in Nigeria. The competition centers around Jobberman's latest report titled "How Young People Survive without Jobs," which explores the challenges and experiences of unemployed youths in the country.

The partnership between Jobberman Nigeria and ELCA aims to empower and engage young Nigerians in the creative sector, one of the key areas of focus for the MasterCard Foundation's Young Africa Works initiative. The Young Africa Works strategy looks to create economic opportunities for 10 million young Nigerians, particularly women, by facilitating access to meaningful and fulfilling work.

Content creators who wish to participate in the competition will be required to produce a three to five-minute short film that effectively captures the key findings of the Jobberman report. The film should strike a balance between entertainment and shedding light on the stark realities faced by Nigeria's unemployed youth.

Entries can take various formats, including comedy, documentary, or scripted fiction, and may feature real or fictional characters. The goal is to highlight specific issues addressed in the report, such as the lack of support from the government and religious organizations for unemployed youth and the prolonged unemployment periods experienced by many young people in the North East.

A panel of judges from ELCA will evaluate the submissions and select the most promising and skillfully executed films. The top 10 participants will advance to the next phase of the competition, where three winners will ultimately be chosen.

The competition prizes are highly coveted and designed to support the winners in their pursuit of creative excellence. The overall winner will receive a Sony a6400 4K Mirrorless Camera with an 18-105mm lens, along with other cinematography equipment. The runner-up will receive a Sony a6400 4K Mirrorless Camera with a 16-50mm lens, while the first runner-up will be awarded a Sony ZV-E10 Mirrorless Camera with a 16-50mm lens.

Furthermore, the top 10 participants will have the opportunity to attend a demo workshop conducted by Sony, featuring practical sessions on the Sony FX 30 and FX 6. This workshop is tentatively scheduled for August 26th at the ELCA campus.

To enter the competition, interested participants must post their video entries on their social media pages using the hashtags #JobbermanELCAShortFilm and #JobbermanxELCA. All entries must be published by August 24, 2023.

This ambitious collaboration between Jobberman Nigeria and ELCA aims to empower young Nigerian creatives, shed light on the issues surrounding youth unemployment, and provide them with valuable opportunities to hone their craft. It is an exciting initiative that aligns with the vision of the Young Africa Works strategy to drive economic growth and improve the prospects of young Nigerians in the creative sector and digital economy.
