The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State recently held a swearing-in ceremony for new members of the party's national working committee (NWC). The ceremony took place after a disagreement between the state party leadership and the central party regarding new appointments.

The central party leadership, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, had named Duro Meseko and Ikani Shuaibu Okolo as the deputy national publicity secretary and zonal organizing secretary, respectively. However, the Kogi state party leadership, headed by Yahaya Ade Ismail, expressed its dissatisfaction with these choices, insisting that Yahaya Ade Ismail and Isiaka Musa were the ratified candidates for these positions.

To address the issue, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State visited Abdullahi Ganduje, who assured him that the matter would be resolved amicably. However, in a recent post by the APC, the party announced the swearing-in of the newly-elected members for the NWC positions.

The new appointments include Ali Bukar Dalori as the deputy national chairman (north), replacing Abubakar Kyari, who was appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu. Garba Datti Muhammad has replaced Salihu Lukman as the party's vice-chair in the north-west, and Abdul Karim Abubakar Kana has taken over as the national legal adviser, replacing Ahmed El-Marzuk, who resigned from the NWC.

In addition, Mary Alile Idele has assumed the position of the national women leader, replacing Betta Edu, who was appointed as a minister by the president. The ceremony, held at the APC National Secretariat, saw Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje charge the new members to work together to achieve party reforms.

The swearing-in ceremony signifies a significant shift in the leadership of the APC in Kogi State, with new faces taking on key roles within the party's NWC. The event serves as a reminder of the importance of internal party processes and the need for unity and cooperation in moving forward.

The APC leadership in Kogi State is confident that the new members of the NWC will contribute to the party's ongoing efforts to strengthen and expand its support base, as well as address the challenges faced by the state. With these changes in place, the party is poised to move ahead with its goals and objectives and maintain its position as a dominant political force in the region.

As the APC charts its course for the future, it is important to recognize the significance of party structure and the crucial role played by its members in driving its agenda. The swearing-in ceremony in Kogi State serves as a symbolic moment, emphasizing the need for effective communication, collaboration, and consensus-building within the party.
