In a bid to enhance security efforts in Anambra State, Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR has pledged to continue working closely with the Nigerian Navy. This commitment was expressed when he received a delegation of the Nigerian Navy, led by Rear Admiral Umar S.A. Chugali, Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command.

The Governor expressed his appreciation for the Navy's commitment and effectiveness in combating oil bunkering and other criminal activities within the state. He further lauded their efforts in securing the lives and property of citizens in Anambra State, urging them to continue their hard work.

Governor Soludo emphasized the need to tackle the problem of oil theft, which remains a major challenge in Nigeria. He stated, "If the theft can be reduced by 70-80%, that is equivalent to jumping the revenue for the country."

The Governor also commended the Nigerian Navy's role in maintaining security and order in the region. He recognized the strategic importance of their presence and efforts on the waterways, particularly with the citing of an outpost at the water bank of Onitsha.

Rear Admiral Umar S.A. Chugali, Flag Officer Commanding, Central Naval Command, reaffirmed the Navy's commitment to Anambra State's security. He explained that the visit was part of their routine process to familiarize themselves with each unit and seek an audience with the Chief Security Officer of the state.

He further stated, "The citing of the outpost at the water bank of Onitsha is strategic and highly calculated because the waterways remain a credible mode of transportation, and that is why we must maintain our presence on the waters."

The Governor's Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Mr. Chikodili Anara, and other government officials were also present at the event.

With the Governor's pledge to continue working with the Nigerian Navy, it is expected that the security efforts in Anambra State will be further strengthened. The collaboration between the state government and the Navy will undoubtedly contribute to the reduction of oil theft and the overall enhancement of security in the region.
