The FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) has praised President Bola Tinubu's commitment to prioritizing the health insurance scheme for the benefit of Nigerians. The scheme's director, Dr. Ahmed Danfulani, expressed his appreciation during a media engagement session in Abuja. While acknowledging the media's role in raising awareness about health insurance, Danfulani requested their continued support in disseminating information to FCT residents. The FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) has commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its plan to prioritize health insurance scheme for the benefits of Nigerians. Dr Ahmed Danfulani, the director of FHIS, praised President Tinubu's commitment during an engagement with the media in Abuja. Danfulani highlighted the President's consistent advocacy for health insurance, showcasing its prominence in public speeches and as a key objective of the renewed hope agenda.

However, while acknowledging the progress made so far, Danfulani called on President Tinubu to sign the FCT Health Insurance Bill and create accompanying documents to support the bill's implementation. He emphasized the importance of meeting the country's target of Universal Health Coverage by 2030.

The director expressed his gratitude to the media for their support in creating awareness about the benefits of health insurance to FCT residents. He urged journalists to continue their efforts, stating that there is still a need for more information dissemination.

According to Danfulani, although the FHIS has witnessed a substantial increase in the number of enrollees, there is still work to be done. He stressed the necessity for regular and consistent information to be provided by the media to effectively achieve the scheme's goals.

Furthermore, Danfulani highlighted the importance of reaching out to the poor, emphasizing the need for continued awareness creation among FCT residents. He revealed plans to engage new staff members who will be trained on marketing strategies and tasked with reaching out to different areas.

In support of the FHIS, Onyeka Ojogwu, Health Finance Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development Integrated Health Programme (USAID-IHP), encouraged the media to play an active role in promoting the scheme. Ojogwu stressed the need for increased awareness campaigns, especially in rural areas where maternal and child healthcare remains insufficient.

Malan Haruna, the Acting Secretary of the Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), also praised the media for their contributions to raising awareness about the health insurance scheme. Haruna acknowledged the vital role the media plays in dispelling misconceptions and ensuring the success of the FHIS.

The FHIS is leveraging various channels such as social media, drama productions, and jingles to further promote the health insurance scheme and improve awareness. By engaging with the media, the FHIS hopes to break down barriers and expand enrollment, particularly among the poor masses.
