Yoruba Diaspora Group Condemns Detention of Osun Devotees, Urges Kwara State Governor to Intervene
Yoruba Diaspora group, Yoruba One Voice (YOV), has strongly condemned the continued detention of Osun devotees, Efunsetan Abebi, Obalowu Jimoh, and popular online presenter Tani Olorun. The group has called on the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, to intervene and ensure their release, deploring the arrest and prolonged detention as a travesty of justice and an act of intimidation.

Yoruba Diaspora group, the Yoruba One Voice (YOV), has issued a statement strongly condemning the continued detention of three Osun devotees, Efunsetan Abebi, Obalowu Jimoh, and Tani Olorun. The group is calling on the governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, to intervene and ensure their immediate release.

In a statement released by Prince Adedokun Ademiluyi, the General Secretary of the Yoruba Diaspora organisation, the group expressed their dismay at the arrest and prolonged detention of the three individuals. They described it as a travesty of justice and an act of intimidation that could potentially lead to further crisis.

The YOV also raised concerns about the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ebun Adelesi, alleging that he is acting on the instructions of prominent figures in Ilorin. The group believes that certain individuals are behind the arrest and unlawful detention of the devotees, and that the commissioner is deliberately frustrating their release.

Prince Ademiluyi further highlighted the circumstances surrounding the recent arrest and arraignment of Tani Olorun, indicating that the Kwara State police authorities have the backing of some religious leaders to trample upon the rights of the detained devotees.

"We appeal to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to intervene and ensure the immediate release of those detained in relation to the Ilorin religious crisis. It is unfortunate that a magistrate court in Ilorin can order the remand of Yeye Osun Abebi, Obalowu Jimoh, and Talolorun for 30 and 50 days respectively without trial. It is sad and even unconstitutional that Magistrate Adams would arrogate to himself such power that makes him feel above the law.

"It is nothing but a travesty of justice to arrest a person in Ibadan, Oyo State, and proceed to arraign them in Ilorin Magistrate Court, Kwara State without anybody raising a voice," Prince Ademiluyi added.

The Yoruba Diaspora group strongly believes that the rights of the detained devotees have been violated, and they are calling for swift action to rectify the situation. The prolonged detention without trial is a cause for concern, and the group urges the governor of Kwara State to ensure justice is served.

The Yoruba One Voice (YOV) is a leading Yoruba Diaspora organisation that advocates for the rights and welfare of Yoruba people both at home and abroad. They provide a platform for Yoruba individuals and groups to unify their voices and push for positive change in various aspects of the Yoruba community.
