London, UK – Some Nigerians based in the United Kingdom (UK) have hailed the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC) as a watershed moment in Nigeria's history. Speaking on Thursday, members of the Bola Tinubu Support Organisation (BTSO-UK) expressed their joy and described the ruling as a significant victory for Nigeria's democracy, rule of law, stability, and development.
The PEPC, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, upheld President Bola Tinubu's victory in the February 25th presidential election. The court dismissed petitions filed by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate, Peter Obi.
Mr. Ade Adeshina, the Director-General of BTSO-UK, emphasized the importance of the verdict in solidifying Nigeria's democratic ideals. "This ruling signifies that Nigerians can resolve their differences through lawful means," he said. "It is a clear demonstration of progress, unity, and justice."
Adeshina expressed his excitement and referred to the verdict as a victory for all Nigerians. He praised President Bola Tinubu's dedicated executive team and called on the nation to work together to ensure the fulfillment of the people's hopes and aspirations.
"The time has come for us in the diaspora to rally behind our leadership and provide unwavering support to turn Renewed Hope into a tangible reality," Adeshina added. "Let's join hands and build the Nigeria of our dreams."
Mr. Adewale Soyinka, a cleric and Deputy Director-General of BTSO-UK, viewed the tribunal verdict as a triumph for majority rule and a significant milestone in Nigeria's democratic process. In his statement, Soyinka commended the judiciary for diligently addressing all issues raised by the petitioners with sound reasoning and solid legal premises.
"This ruling is a momentous occasion that demonstrates faith in the future," Soyinka noted. "Those who suffered electoral defeat must gracefully accept the people's judgment and allow our contemporary leaders to guide Nigerians towards the Promised Land."
As members of the BTSO-UK celebrated the ruling, they also called for unity among political rivals. They stressed the need for a collective effort to build a Nigeria that fulfills the dreams and aspirations of all its citizens.
With the tribunal verdict drawing to a satisfying close, Nigerians in the UK and across the globe eagerly anticipate the continued progress, development, and stability of their beloved nation.
