Chairman of APC, Oyo State, Dismisses Call for Dissolution of Executive Committees
Hon Isaac Omodewu, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has criticized the call for the dissolution of all executive committees of the party, labeling it as wishful thinking by those lacking a proper understanding of constitutional democracy. Omodewu specifically addressed former federal lawmaker Senator Ayoade Adeseun, who suggested replacing the current executive committees with an Interim Committee to reposition the party. In his statement, Omodewu expressed disappointment in Adeseun's comments and accused him of causing unnecessary political crises in the past.

Ibadan - The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Hon Isaac Omodewu, has dismissed calls for the dissolution of all executive committees of the party, labeling it as mere wishful thinking by individuals with limited knowledge of constitutional democracy.

Omodewu's comments were in response to a statement made by former federal lawmaker, Senator Ayoade Adeseun, who suggested the replacement of the current executive committees with an Interim Committee to foster the party's restructuring.

Expressing his disappointment, Omodewu stated, "It is regrettable that Senator Adeseun has once again thrown caution to the winds, just as he and his allies have done in the past to create unnecessary political crises in the state."

He further highlighted the need for party members to adhere to the principles of internal democracy and respect the constitutional provisions guiding the party's operations. Omodewu emphasized that any decision regarding the party's executive committees should be approached in a lawful and democratic manner.

While acknowledging that the party needs to constantly adapt and evolve to remain relevant, Omodewu stressed that such changes should be made in line with the constitution and through proper channels, such as congresses and consultations.

He urged party members to disregard rumors and unsubstantiated claims, emphasizing that the current executive committees remain intact and committed to serving the best interests of the party and its members.

"We will not be distracted by the baseless and ill-informed comments of individuals whose track records in political maneuvering speak for themselves. Our focus remains on delivering good governance and promoting the welfare of our party faithful," Omodewu concluded.

Adeseun's comments have sparked debates within the APC circles in Oyo State, with some supporters expressing concern over the potential disruption a change in executive committees might cause. However, others believe that such a move could bring about fresh ideas and renewed energy to propel the party forward.

The call for an Interim Committee comes at a time when political parties across the country are reassessing their strategies, considering recent electoral victories and losses. The APC, as a major player in the Nigerian political landscape, faces the challenge of reconciling differing viewpoints within the party while striving to maintain unity and a clear vision for the future.

As the chairman of the APC, Oyo State chapter, Omodewu plays a critical role in navigating the party through these turbulent times. With his steadfast commitment to the principles of constitutional democracy, Omodewu aims to foster a harmonious environment for constructive dialogue and effective decision-making.
