Lagos - Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) has completed an onboarding workshop for the members of the Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe Host Community Development Trust (HCDT). The workshop, facilitated by a consortium of non-governmental organizations under the Participatory Partnership for Community Development (PPCD) program, aimed to foster collaboration with the trust for sustainable development in the host communities.
The workshop, held at the Bon Hyatt hotel in Warri, brought together members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Management Committee (MC), and Advisory Committee (AC) of the Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe HCDT. During the workshop, discussions centered around the roles and functions of the different committees.
Chevron Nigeria, operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and CNL, expressed its commitment to complying with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). The company considers itself a law-abiding corporate citizen that respects the rule of law and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
With the completion of the workshop, CNL congratulated the members of the BOT, MC, and AC of the Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe HCDT. The company expressed hope for a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership between CNL and the HCDT's constituent communities.
Peter Satu, Chairman of the Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe HCDT, commended CNL for its commitment to sustainable development in neighboring communities and for facilitating the transition from the Offshore Memorandum of Understanding (OMoU) and Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) to the Host Community Development Trust in alignment with the PIA.
The Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe HCDT has pledged to work towards enhancing the socio-economic development of the communities it represents. The trust will focus on initiatives that contribute to the well-being and progress of the host communities.
The completion of the onboarding workshop signifies a significant step in building a strong collaboration between Chevron Nigeria and the Agbonu Ogulagha-Ibe HCDT. This partnership is expected to drive sustainable development and uplift the quality of life for the host communities.
