He reiterated the state's commitment to providing top-notch sporting facilities and creating an enabling environment that will not only meet the standards set by CAF but also boost the interest of Nigerians in football.

Having previously hosted the under-17 and under-20 FIFA World Cup competitions, Lagos State has a solid understanding of the protocols and requirements of hosting international football tournaments. The Deputy Governor revealed that Lagos State is actively investing in sports infrastructure. The Teslim Balogun Stadium is currently being renovated to meet international standards, specifically for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and beyond. Additionally, new stadiums are being constructed in several communities across the state to encourage youth participation in football and other sports.

"We are actually building nine stadiums in areas like Agege, Ifako-Ijaye, Ikorodu, Epe, among others. Our aim is to promote community football and provide platforms for the youth to showcase their talents," said Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

The Leader of Nigeria's Bid Delegation for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027, Mallam Mainasara Illo, explained that the CAF inspection team was in Lagos to assess the proposed football facilities put forward by the Nigeria Football Federation for the tournament.
