High Chief Emeka Ken Nwabueze, popularly known as Ajie Okpala Ogidi, and his wife, Iyom Ugonne Nwabueze, have expressed their unwavering commitment to the development and progress of the Ogidi community in Anambra State.

The couple, who were recently admitted into the prestigious Otu Ekwe and Otu Odu society of Ogidi, made this pledge during a traditional ceremony attended by distinguished personalities and community leaders.

High Chief Emeka Ken Nwabueze, a former Special Adviser to former President George Bush of the United States of America on Science and Technology, spoke about their motivation for community development. He highlighted the exceptional leadership of the traditional ruler of Ogidi, His Royal Highness Igwe Pharm. Alex Onyido, Ezechuamagha of Ogidi, as one of the driving forces behind their commitment.

Nwabueze commended Igwe Ezechuamagha's leadership style, which he described as consultative, inclusive, and guided by the opinions and views of the people. He contrasted this approach with the autocratic tendencies exhibited by some leaders, emphasizing the positive impact it has had on Ogidi's progress and development.

"Igwe Ezechuamagha has shown that he was chosen by God to uplift Ogidi ancient kingdom with skilful leadership," Nwabueze remarked. "The most important thing about Ezechuamagha is that he doesn't move alone like a dictator in taking decisions and actions. He always consults with Ogidi people to seek our views and opinions by listening ear on the issues that are important for the development and progress of Ogidi. That is the mark of a good leader and the results are very impressive and clear."

The couple's induction into the Otu Ekwe and Otu Odu society represents their dedication to community service and welfare. High Chief Emeka Ken Nwabueze urged the traditionally titled women to utilize the peaceful and progressive environment in Ogidi to contribute actively to the welfare of the community, particularly focusing on the needs of rural women and the girl child.

He encouraged the women to organize free medical services, seminars, and workshops to address health issues and provide education on family planning, business, and other relevant topics. He affirmed his unreserved support for his wife's involvement in the traditional titled women's affairs and acknowledged her commitment to the development of Ogidi.

Speaking after her induction into Otu Ekwe and Otu Odu, Iyom Ugonne expressed her gratitude to the traditional titled women for considering her worthy of the twin title. She pledged to work hand in hand with her husband to make further contributions to the development and progress of Ogidi ancient kingdom and its inhabitants.
