DAMATURU - In continuation of distribution of palliatives to provide soccour to the people of the state, the Deputy Governor of Yobe state Idi Barde Gubana, who also doubles as Deputy Chairman Committee on Palliative, has today launched the second phase in Damagum, Yobe South Senatorial District.
The distribution aims to provide relief to vulnerable persons, particularly people living with disabilities, women heads of households, the elderly, and students among others.
To ensure the proper and fair distribution of the palliatives in the local government areas, sub-committees were established, comprised of traditional rulers including District Heads and Village Heads, reputable community leaders, religious leaders, and representatives of Civil Society Organizations.
Deputy Governor Gubana appealed to the people of Yobe State to cooperate with the Committee and sub-committees for a successful execution of the task. He also urged them to continue praying for peace, bumper harvest, and prosperity.
The Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, assured that the real profiled beneficiaries will receive the palliatives. Over 14,500 communities are expected to benefit from this distribution.
Dr. Goje further stressed that the third phase of the palliative distribution will be conducted in Yobe North Senatorial District at Jakusko.
Baba Goni Bade, Chairman of Fune Local Government Area Caretaker Committee, praised the state government for its timely response in alleviating the sufferings of the citizens through the palliative measures.
He appealed to the committee on palliative to consider Fune Local Government, which has the largest population in the state, and give it due consideration in the sharing formula.
With the launch of the second phase of palliative distribution in Damagum, the Yobe State Government demonstrates its commitment to improving the welfare of the most vulnerable individuals in the state, especially during these challenging times.
