PDP Vows to Repeat 2003 Upset in Kogi State Governorship Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in winning the upcoming governorship election in Kogi State. The party vows to repeat the 2003 upset by defeating the incumbent government, promising protection for its members and the electorate. PDP chieftain Alhaji Ibrahim Idris unveiled Senator Dino Melaye as the party's candidate, stating that he has the capacity and competence to lead the state to prosperity once again.

The upcoming governorship election in Kogi State has sparked intense political activities, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressing confidence in clinching victory and repeating the historic upset of 2003. The party has assured its members and the electorate not to succumb to intimidation and threats from the ruling parties, promising protection before, during, and after the polls.

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, a former governor and prominent PDP chieftain in the state, stressed that the selection of Senator Dino Melaye as the party's candidate was not taken lightly. Melaye received overwhelming support during the primary election and possesses the necessary capacity, competence, and confidence to lead the state to the promised land.

Referencing the PDP's 2003 victory, Alhaji Idris emphasized that despite starting from a disadvantaged position, the party worked hard and emerged victorious. He firmly believes that Senator Melaye will triumph in the upcoming poll, offering hope to the suffering populace burdened by the maladministration of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Idris called upon the people of Kogi East, urging them to solidify the PDP's winning structures and mobilize the electorate to vote en masse for the party. The APC's governance has caused significant hardship, and Alhaji Idris implored the people to take their destiny into their own hands and vote out the present administration attempting to regain power through the back door.

Demonstrating gratitude towards the support from the people, Senator Melaye and his deputy, Hajia Habibat Mohammed Deen, pledged not to disappoint if elected into office. Senator Melaye invoked the biblical story of Daniel, who tamed a lion in its den, as a metaphor for his own determination to overcome challenges and bring positive change to Kogi State.

He cautioned the electorate not to be swayed by trivial incentives, highlighting the government's failure to provide good governance over the past eight years. Senator Melaye emphasized that his leadership would transcend tribal, religious, and ethnic divides, emphasizing his commitment to providing the much-needed leadership the state desperately needs.

The upcoming governorship election in Kogi State has become a pivotal moment for the PDP and the people of the state. With strong determination, a capable candidate, and widespread support, the PDP aims to replicate the surprising victory of 2003 and rescue Kogi State from its current state of despair. The electorate holds their destiny in their hands, and it is now time to decide the path the state will undertake.
