Erisco Foods Limited, a leading Nigerian food manufacturing company, has recently demonstrated its dedication to supporting education and recognizing academic excellence by presenting a cash prize of N3 million to Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere, the overall best candidate in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
The CEO of Erisco Foods, Eric Umeofia, personally handed over the cash prize to Kamsiyochukwu and her school team at the company's headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. The ceremony was held to celebrate the outstanding performance of Kamsiyochukwu, who achieved a remarkable score of 360 in the recently conducted Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Accompanied by the third-highest scorer, Analogwu David, who scored 351 in the examination, Kamsiyochukwu was joined by her school team, including the school Administrator Eze Emmanuel, the Principal Senior School, Pastor Micheal Ajala, and her teachers.
Erisco Foods also extended its recognition and rewards to other high-performing candidates. The second runner-up, Imoukhuede Andrew, who scored 355, received a cash prize of N100,000. Unfortunately, Andrew was absent during the award ceremony. Additionally, the third runner-up, Alagwu David, who scored 351, also received a cash prize of N100,000.
In a heartwarming gesture, Erisco Foods rewarded the school team with a collective sum of N600,000, acknowledging the pivotal role played by the teachers in nurturing and preparing the students for success.
Speaking during the ceremony, Eric Umeofia emphasized that his actions were driven by a genuine sense of humanity. He commended Kamsiyochukwu and her school team for their exceptional performance, while urging them to remain focused and committed to their education.
"These are the people we want to take over from us," Umeofia stated. "I think the teachers made this possible, and I pray that this success does not enter their heads. I want you to remain the best, don't deviate from the good teaching of your parents and teachers, don't join the negative side of this generation," he added.
This remarkable gesture by Erisco Foods serves as an inspiration not only to Kamsiyochukwu and her fellow students but also to the entire Nigerian education system. Recognizing and rewarding academic excellence is a crucial step toward motivating and encouraging young talents to strive for excellence.
