NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Embrace Entrepreneurship Opportunities and Community Development
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General YD Ahmed, has urged corps members to maintain the spirit of patriotism, diligence, and resilience instilled in them during their orientation course. He emphasized the importance of embracing entrepreneurship opportunities and community development initiatives to improve the standards of local communities. Gen. Ahmed also encouraged corps members to develop the skills acquired during the NYSC's Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and seek post-camp training to enhance their self-reliance prospects.

DAMATURU - The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General YD Ahmed, has called on corps members to maintain the spirit of patriotism, diligence, and resilience instilled in them during their orientation course. This charge was delivered during his address at the passing-out ceremony of the 2023 Batch 'B' Stream II orientation course, where 1,531 corps members successfully completed their training at the Dazigau Orientation Camp, Yobe State.

The NYSC Yobe State coordinator, Mrs. Hafsat Yerima, conveyed the DG's message, commending the corps members for their active participation and exemplary discipline throughout the orientation program. Brig. Gen. Ahmed emphasized the importance of embracing postings with goodwill, integrating into host communities respectfully, and participating in Community Development Service (CDS) projects to improve the standards of local communities.

Highlighting the significance of the entrepreneurship training conducted under the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, Gen. Ahmed encouraged corps members to further develop the skills acquired in-camp. He urged them to seek additional post-camp training to bolster their self-reliance prospects, assuring them of NYSC's commitment to collaborating with other stakeholders in providing start-up capital for their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Corps members play a vital role in nation-building, and the NYSC program provides an ideal platform for harnessing their potential and instilling valuable values. The DG's call to embrace entrepreneurship opportunities and community development initiatives aligns with the NYSC's focus on empowering young graduates with practical skills and driving positive change in Nigerian communities.

In recent years, the NYSC has made significant strides in enhancing the entrepreneurial capabilities of corps members through the SAED program. This program equips them with essential vocational skills and business knowledge, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute to economic growth.

The NYSC DG's emphasis on post-camp training highlights the importance of continuous learning and professional development. By seeking further training and honing their skills, corps members can enhance their employability and increase their chances of entrepreneurial success.

Furthermore, the DG's commitment to collaborating with stakeholders in providing start-up capital demonstrates the NYSC's dedication to supporting corps members' entrepreneurial endeavors. Access to capital is often a significant challenge for young graduates looking to start their own businesses, and this collaborative effort can help bridge that gap.

In addition to entrepreneurship, the DG's call for active participation in Community Development Service (CDS) projects is equally crucial. Engaging in community development initiatives allows corps members to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities. Through CDS projects, they can address local challenges, improve infrastructure, and empower community members.

The NYSC program not only promotes national unity but also equips corps members with the necessary tools to make a positive impact in society. By embracing entrepreneurship opportunities and actively participating in community development, corps members can become catalysts for change and sustainable development.
