Eye witnesses at the scene reported that the truck veered off its course and hit several vehicles before crashing into the busy market. A car was struck by the truck, and a motorcycle was found trapped beneath it.
The pregnant woman, who had come to the market to buy foodstuffs, was tragically crushed to death by the out-of-control truck. Her two-year-old child, who was with her at the time, suffered injuries and was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety in Nigeria, with many questioning the adequacy of measures taken to prevent such tragic accidents. The Federal Road Safety Corps has been alerted about the incident and is conducting an investigation into the cause of the brake failure and the circumstances surrounding the accident.
