Oyo State Receives 1,386 Seats for 2024 Hajj Exercise
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated 1,386 seats for Oyo State for the 2024 Hajj Exercise, as announced by the Chairman of Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare's Board, Sheikh Hashim AbdulWahab Olamide Atere. The Board is now preparing for the upcoming Hajj and has urged intending pilgrims to start making deposits.

IBADAN - The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated One Thousand Three Hundred and Eighty-Six (1386) seats for Oyo State for next year Hajj Exercise.

This commendable development was disclosed by the Chairman, Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), Sheikh Hashim AbdulWahab Olamide Atere, following a meeting in Abuja with the Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Zikirullahi Kunle Hassan.

At the meeting, which was organized by NAHCON, the Chief Executives of State Pilgrims Welfare Agencies, Boards & Commissions reviewed the 2023 Hajj Operations and discussed the way forward for 2024.

Sheikh Hashim Atere confirmed that the Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced preparations for the 2024 Hajj and will soon roll out plans for intending pilgrims within the state.

While assuring the welfare of pilgrims, Sheikh Hashim also highlighted that a significant number of intending pilgrims have already made deposits for the upcoming Hajj. He urged other interested individuals to start depositing funds into the designated bank accounts of the Board, in anticipation of the final fare announcement by NAHCON.

In line with the guidelines provided by NAHCON, Sheikh Hashim emphasized that the allocation of seats for the Hajj exercise will be based on a "first come - first serve" principle. This guarantees fairness and eliminates any form of favoritism or discrimination.

The announcement by NAHCON earlier in the day warned that the 2024 Hajj could be expensive, with a recommended savings target of at least N4.5 million. This increase in cost is attributed to recent changes in the foreign exchange window, where the average exchange rate for the dollar stands between N750 and N800.

As preparations continue, Sheikh Hashim Atere reassured the public of the Board's commitment to ensuring a successful and spiritually enriching Hajj experience for all pilgrims from Oyo State.

The announcement of the 1,386 allocated seats for Oyo State marks another step towards the realization of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, which is of great importance to Nigeria's Muslim community.
