Jeremiah Okorodudu, the late Nigerian legendary boxer, was given a befitting farewell at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, Edo State. The prominent Olympian was laid to rest amidst tributes and adoration from active and retired boxers, family members, and sports enthusiasts.

The Edo State Sports Commission, in collaboration with Okorodudu's family, organized a special lying-in-state ceremony to honor the iconic boxer. Mrs. Sabina Chikere, the Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Sports Commission, described Okorodudu as a revered legend and an iconic personality in the sports industry. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss and stated that it's now our duty to preserve his legacy.

The officiating minister, Bishop Idahosa Sebastian, urged sympathizers to embrace love and unity to honor Okorodudu's memory. He emphasized that by treating one another with kindness, we uphold the virtues cherished by God.

Mr. Isaac Ikhuoria, the coach of the late Jeremiah Okorodudu, reminisced about the champion's glorious boxing career. Okorodudu, fondly known as Jerry, achieved remarkable success during his reign, winning numerous trophies. Ikhuoria called on Okorodudu's family to carry on their late father's legacy and impact on society.

Doreen Okorodudu, Jeremiah's daughter, described her father as an enigma whose footsteps left an indelible mark on society. She expressed gratitude to the Edo sports commission and other concerned citizens who provided support during their time of grief.

Jeremiah Oghenekevwe Okorodudu, a renowned boxer from the former Bendel state, passed away at the age of sixty-four. According to the funeral programme, he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Agbarhaotor, Delta state.

The Nigerian boxing community and sports industry have lost a true legend who will always be remembered for his remarkable contributions. Jeremiah Okorodudu's journey to his final resting place signifies the end of an era, but his legacy will forever inspire aspiring boxers and sports enthusiasts.
