The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has donated 150 motorcycles and 18 Sienna buses to the Edo State Security Vigilante Network (ESSVN). The donation aims to enhance the operations of the group in providing security to the people of Edo State. The Governor expressed the importance of these vehicles in accessing remote areas and ensuring the safety of the citizens. The ESSVN coordinator thanked the Governor and emphasized their commitment to reducing crimes and criminality in the state.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has demonstrated his commitment to enhancing the security of lives and properties in the state by donating 150 motorcycles and 18 Sienna buses to the Edo State Security Vigilante Network (ESSVN).

Speaking during the handing over ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, the Governor highlighted the importance of these vehicles in boosting the operations of the ESSVN and enabling their members to access remote areas where traditional vehicles might struggle to reach.

"We are handing over 150 motorcycles to members of the Edo State Vigilante Security Network to enable them to access remote areas and provide security to our people in Edo State. Please accept these motorcycles on behalf of the Edo State Government," stated Governor Obaseki.

The 18 Sienna buses, which were purchased by the Edo State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGOn), were also donated to the ESSVN. This additional support will further enhance the group's capabilities in ensuring the safety and security of the people of Edo State.

Hon. Monday Osaigbovo, the Edo State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, expressed gratitude for the donation and explained the rationale behind it. "The 18 Toyota Sienna buses were purchased by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Edo State branch to support ESSVN. The governor has directed ALGON to focus more on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and hopes that as we get more IGR, we also raise more funds to buy more, but this is to support ESSVN," he commented.

Col. Kole Omomia (Rtd), the Coordinator of ESSVN, expressed appreciation to the Governor and ALGON for their generous donation. "We thank the Edo State Governor for the bikes. Be rest assured, sir, that we will make judicious use of these motorcycles and ensure they reach areas where vehicles can't access. This will help us reduce crimes and criminality to the barest minimum in Edo State," he assured.

The donation of motorcycles and buses to the ESSVN aligns with the Governor's commitment to enhancing security and promoting the well-being of the people in Edo State. By equipping the security operatives with these vehicles, the state government aims to improve their response time, reach remote areas more efficiently, and provide a safer environment for the residents.
