20-year-old man arrested for killing father for money ritual in Ogun State

In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old man identified as Ridwan has been arrested in Ogun State, Nigeria, for allegedly killing his father, Ishau, in order to perform a money ritual. The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps following a routine patrol at Oshoku village, Ijebu North Local Government Area on August 31, 2021.

The So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, revealed that the officers heard a strange noise emanating from a building during their patrol. To their dismay, upon entering the building, they discovered the lifeless body of Ridwan's father lying in a pool of blood. The suspect had already fled the scene, but was eventually captured hiding in a nearby bush.

Ridwan, during interrogation, confessed to committing the heinous act. He admitted to killing his father by tying a rope around his neck and using a knife to remove his private part, larynx, and four teeth. These body parts were allegedly requested by a ritualist identified as Baba Kekere.

However, the suspect refused to divulge any information regarding the whereabouts of the ritualist. He has since been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force, Ogbere Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and potential prosecution.

This incident adds to the growing concerns over the prevalence of ritual killings in Nigeria. The desperation for quick wealth has lured many individuals into engaging in these barbaric acts, despite the legal consequences.
