PDP Lauds President Bola Tinubu's Palliatives for Fuel Subsidy Removal
The Benue chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended President Bola Tinubu for providing palliatives to states in response to the fuel subsidy removal. The party also expressed concern over the silence of Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia regarding the distribution of the palliatives to the intended beneficiaries.

Makurdi, Benue State - The Benue chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lauded President Bola Tinubu over the palliatives given to states to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal. In a statement issued by Mr Bemgba Iortyom, the state PDP Publicity Secretary, the party expressed gratitude for the palliatives, stating that they would provide short-term relief to citizens if distributed transparently.

Mr Iortyom went on to express concern over the silence of Benue Governor, Hyacinth Alia, regarding the distribution of the palliatives to the targeted beneficiaries. While many other state governments have already distributed the palliatives, some even supplementing them with their own resources, Alia has remained silent on the matter.

This silence has caused worry among party members and the people of the state as they are eager for the governor to shed light on the situation. The delay in the distribution of the palliatives only adds to the sufferings of the intended beneficiaries, exacerbating their hardships.

The Benue PDP spokesperson called on Governor Alia to come forward and provide clarity on the matter. He emphasized the importance of transparency and urged the governor to ensure the palliatives are distributed fairly to the intended beneficiaries in the state.

The party also noted the positive actions taken by other state governments across the country in promptly distributing the palliatives to their citizens. This created a stark contrast with the situation in Benue.

While the PDP appreciates President Tinubu's efforts to alleviate the impacts of fuel subsidy removal, the party remains concerned about the lack of action in Benue state. The welfare and wellbeing of the people should be the primary focus, and the timely distribution of the palliatives is crucial in achieving this goal.

As the PDP awaits a response from Governor Alia, they implore him to prioritize the interests of the people and address their suffering by ensuring the palliatives are swiftly distributed. They also call for transparency in the distribution process to avoid any form of favoritism or diversion of the intended relief.

It is hoped that the governor would break his silence soon and take decisive action, thereby providing much-needed respite to the people of Benue State affected by the subsidy removal. By doing so, he can demonstrate his commitment to their welfare and restore confidence in his leadership.
