Promoting Strategic Planning and Information Sharing for Enhanced Security in Africa
Industrial security professionals emphasized the significance of promoting strategic planning, information sharing, and strong synergy among industry stakeholders to protect lives and property. This was highlighted at the ASIS International Sub-Saharan African Security Conference in Abuja, Nigeria, which focused on managing security risks in Africa. The conference, attended by passionate individuals dedicated to safeguarding assets and people, stressed the importance of collaboration between government and private entities to improve overall security.

In the face of escalating security problems, industrial security professionals have emphasized the significance of promoting strategic planning, information sharing, and strong synergy among industry stakeholders in order to protect lives and property.

The experts made this known on Thursday at the ongoing ASIS International Sub-Saharan African Security Conference in Abuja, which is themed: Managing Security Risks in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous, and Digital (VUCAD) Africa.

According to Peter O'Neil, CEO of ASIS International, the security conference included many women and men who are passionate about protecting assets and people while collaborating with the government and private entities can only further improve the security situation as a whole, irrespective of where they live in the world.

He noted that although there is always going to be a physical security challenge, the notion of having planning, a strong network, and sharing knowledge is key and critical to ensure the protection that everybody needs, in Sub-Saharan Africa or other parts of the world.

He hinted that ASIS International, a group of minimum 34,000 members around the world, who are security management professionals, work every day to protect people and assets anywhere they can, relying on strong standards and guidelines and renowned specifications to help them be the best they can be.

According to him: "We have a very strong presence in Sub-Saharan Africa, and in particular Nigeria as it has some of our biggest chapters. We rely a lot on voluntary engagement in the passion of our volunteers to produce conferences like this in Nigeria is part of the rotation.

"We work very hard in public-private partnership with governments, private agencies, and consulting companies to make sure that people have access to the best current information on the practice of security management that they can have," he stressed.

Also, the representative of the Norwegian Embassy, Saether Ronny, Head of Chancery and Consular Affairs, said the conference is not only important but timely given its focus.
