Kaduna State Gov Approves Full Implementation of 2014 Consolidated Medical Salary Scale for Resident Doctors
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has announced the full implementation of the 2014 Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) for resident doctors working in the state ministry of health. The approval came after negotiations with striking doctors revealed a disparity in salary between resident doctors in the ministry and those at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. The governor hopes that this decision will attract more doctors and improve access to quality healthcare in the state.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has given his approval for the full implementation of the 2014 Consolidated Medical Salary Scale (CONMESS) for resident doctors working in the state ministry of health.

The governor made this announcement during a media chat on Sunday, as part of the activities marking his first 100 days in office. The decision follows a report from a negotiations committee headed by the state head of service.

During negotiations with striking doctors in August, it was discovered that resident doctors in the ministry were receiving only 75% of the 2014 CONMESS, while their counterparts at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital were receiving the full 100%.

In light of this disparity, Governor Uba Sani directed that, starting from September, the approved CONMESS should be implemented in full for resident doctors in the ministry, bringing them at par with their counterparts at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital.

The governor believes that this decision will not only boost the morale of doctors but also enhance productivity and attract more healthcare professionals to the state. It is expected that the improved salary package will incentivize doctors to provide quality healthcare services to the people of Kaduna State.

In addition to the implementation of CONMESS, Governor Uba Sani disclosed that approval has been given to continue the recruitment of 89 medical doctors in order to address the gaps in the state's healthcare system, as recommended by the negotiations committee. This recruitment drive is aimed at ensuring that Kaduna residents have easy access to quality healthcare services.

Furthermore, Governor Uba Sani highlighted the administration's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in the state. The recent distribution of advanced medical equipment to upgraded primary health care centers is a testament to this commitment. The goal is to ensure that every citizen and resident of Kaduna State can access a primary healthcare center within one kilometer of their residence.

Beyond healthcare, Governor Uba Sani is also focused on transforming rural areas and creating a business-friendly environment that attracts more investors to the state. He promised to complete projects inherited from the previous administration and emphasized the need for renewed focus on rural development.

On the subject of security, the governor expressed his gratitude to security agencies for their support in training both old and newly-recruited members of the state vigilance service. He also thanked the people of Kaduna State for their confidence in his administration and called for their continued support and cooperation.
