Lagos, July 31st - In a dramatic operation carried out by the Delta State Police, a suspected kidnapper was fatally shot, and an abducted victim was rescued. The incident took place in Jakpa junction, Effurun, Delta State, when a police patrol team attached to the Ebrumede Police station flagged down a suspicious Lexus Saloon Car during a routine stop and search operation.

Upon noticing the police, the occupant of the vehicle alighted and fled on foot while brandishing a double barrel gun. The police officers, undeterred, promptly gave chase to apprehend the suspect. During the pursuit, one of the suspects was neutralized while others managed to escape.

The officers then shifted their attention to the abandoned vehicle and discovered a blindfolded individual inside. The kidnapped victim was swiftly rescued and taken to the police station for further investigation. Interrogation revealed that the victim was abducted along Jakpa Road in Warri, Delta State, on the same day at approximately 9:00 p.m.

According to the victim's testimony, he was driving when the suspected kidnappers on a tricycle deliberately collided with his vehicle from behind. As he approached the individuals to confront them, they produced the double barrel gun and forcibly abducted him.

Prior to his rescue, the victim had already paid a ransom of seven hundred thousand naira to the kidnappers through a bank transfer. Fortunately, the swift action of the police ensured his safe return to his family.

DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and encouraged other officers to display the same bravery in the line of duty. He also called on the public to continue trusting and cooperating with the police, especially by providing valuable information.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, commended the bravery of the police officers involved in the operation. He stressed the importance of community support in combating crime and emphasized that the police cannot do it alone.
