National Theater CEO Commends NYSC for Promoting Nigerian Culture
The General Manager and CEO of the National Theatre commended the NYSC for its efforts in promoting Nigerian culture. He lauded the corps members for their participation in a cultural carnival, emphasizing the importance of cultural education and the preservation of cultural values. The National Theatre CEO also pledged to partner with the NYSC in organizing a prize for the best cultural troupe, making it an annual event.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has received commendation from Sunday Ododo, the General Manager and CEO of the National Theater, Lagos, for its commitment to promoting Nigerian culture. The commendation came during the NYSC 2023 Batch 'B' Stream Two Cultural Carnival, held at the Orientation Camp, Asaya in Kabba, Kogi State.

In his speech, Ododo expressed his delight in witnessing the NYSC cultural carnival in Kogi and commended the corps members for their dedication to showcasing the diverse Nigerian cultural heritage. He emphasized that culture is an integral part of national identity and unity, and the NYSC plays a vital role in preserving and promoting cultural values.

Furthermore, Ododo announced that the National Theater would collaborate with the NYSC to establish a prize for the best cultural troupe. This partnership aims to encourage and reward excellence in cultural performances, while also making the carnival an annual event. The establishment of a national prize for cultural activities will further recognize and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.

Addressing the corps members, Ododo urged them to continue embracing and embodying cultural and moral values in their places of primary assignments. He stressed the significance of instilling these values in children from an early age, both at home and in schools. By teaching children about different cultures within the society, they develop a greater appreciation for diversity and learn to uphold the sanctity of life and moral principles.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mofoluwasho Williams, highlighted the purpose of the cultural float event, stating that it aimed to reorient the youth and foster a stronger belief in Nigeria's rich cultural heritage. Through this event, the corps members would gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for various Nigerian cultures, realizing the inherent similarities and unity among them.

Williams emphasized the NYSC's role as a credible institution for showcasing the rich cultural values of Nigeria's diverse constituents. The cultural float event served as a platform for promoting cultural awareness and encouraging the corps members to become cultural ambassadors who could effectively market and export Nigeria's cultural heritage.

By promoting cultural education and engagement, the NYSC continues to foster a sense of national pride and unity among Nigerian youth. The cultural carnival not only showcases the talents and creativity of corps members, but it also serves as a catalyst for cultural preservation and national development.

The NYSC's efforts, in collaboration with organizations like the National Theater, are crucial for nurturing a generation that appreciates and safeguards cultural values. Through these cultural initiatives, young Nigerians can embrace their identity and contribute to a harmonious society that upholds shared values and respects diverse cultural traditions.
